Cheese Fondue

No pictures yet as my camera still isn't here but we had a really delicious cheese fondue for dinner. Didn't eat till late as we had to go out for some ingredients. The bread at Harris Teeter was awful so we went all the way to Whole Foods and got some Farm Bread which was perfect. I don't eat fondue often but once in a while it hits the spot. I used to live in Switzerland and didn't really like it much when I lived there. I think I would appreciate the food in Switzerland a whole lot more if I moved there now as my tastes have changed a lot since then.

The camera is on its way

I should be getting my camera in the next couple of days. It's so exciting. I'm looking forward to using this blog to keep a record of my culinary creations.

Merry Christmas

We had a very nice first Christmas in our new house in North Carolina.

We had Breakfast Pies http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Breakfast-Pies/Detail.aspx They were a good way to start the day as I knew everyone would be eating too much candy as the day progressed.

The girls were all happy with their gifts. They are always grateful for whatever they receive.

David and I went for a nice long walk in the woods and then for a walk along Franklin Street. And then we ate enough but didn't overdo it. I didn't make turkey and all the trimmings. I didn't want to spend the whole day cooking I made some homemade fries, chicken empanaditas and spring rolls and vegetables from Trader Joe's. Tasty and easy. No one had room for cookies as they'd been eating their Christmas candy.

Now David and two of the girls have gone to the movies. David has gone to see I Am Legend and the girls are seeing Sweeney Todd. I'm at home watching a Hallmark movie, The Note.

My minivan was broken into! Grrrr!!

I am so furious. I woke up on Christmas Eve to discover that my minivan had been broken into. Fortunately I didn't have anything in there for them to take but that's not the point. I feel so violated. This is not turning out to be the nice, safe town we had hoped it would be.

I am awaiting the arrival of a new camera as my Canon PowerShot gave me the dreaded E18 error so it wasn't worth repairing it. I'm getting a red Sony DSC-T200! I also have a cute little red leather case for it.

When my new camera gets here I plan on taking pictures of my favorite meals and baked goods so that I have something to refer to in the future and also because I want to play with my new camera!

Whenever possible I will include recipes in case I want to recreate the meal again. I am writing this blog for myself but if people discover it and enjoy reading it and seeing my creations and adding their comments then so much the better.

I will occasionally add non-culinary information as I would also like this to be a journal to remind me of important events in my life.
